Have you ever wanted to make your own pinata? For those who might not know, a pinata is container filled with candies and even small toys. Pinatas are used as a game at special events, especially birthday parties. They are hung from a tree branch or ceiling, and children are blindfolded and take turns swinging at the pinata with a stick. The goal is to break them open so the candy and toys inside spill out.

... Arts and Crafts by the Disabled - Had this recent addition to the Brag About Your Arts or Craft article about a craft business run by a woman disabled due to an illness and unable to work outside of the home. She has also extended her website to all disabled crafters who have the need to work from home due to a disability or illness and not receiving the support from employers to do so.
A truly fantastic idea - check out the Craft Elegance website for more information. And don't forget to brag about your favorite art or craft product!
... Ideas that Matter 2011 Contest Call for Entries - Don't miss Sappi Fine Paper North America's call for entries for their Ideas that Matter grant program. This grant benefits designers who donate their time and talent to create communications materials for a wide range of charitable activities. This is a great way to give back to your community while getting your name out in the community as well as a paying cutomer go-to source for your area of design.
A little puzzled by how this works? In order to apply you have to be providing pro bono work for a nonprofit organization. One example is the Winterhouse Institute, the recipient of a $30,000 grant to address the lack of affordable housing in the rural areas of Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York by designing billboards and newspaper inserts.
Grant awards range from $5,000 to $50,000 per project and may be used to cover implementation and out-of-pocket costs. ... Taxes Ain't Pretty - Just as a reminder, you have until Monday April 18 to either file your personal tax return or submit an extension. And remember, an extension is only to file, not to pay whatever amount of tax will be owed when you do file your return.
I usually like to get mine done before April 1 since it 's a continuing source of stress if I don't. This year I was late, but I did get it done and out the door yesterday. Big relief. I hate doing my own tax return!
Need to file for an extension? Read my article about filing Form 4868 to get an automatic six-month extension to file your taxes.Taxes Ain't Pretty originally appeared on ... Build Buzz With an Alternative Arts and Crafts Show - I just read this interesting article about The Underground Artisans Marketplace which started out as a group of friends hosting craft nights and has since expanded into an alternative arts and crafts show with a specialty in recycled, up-cycled and re-purposed products.
Pretty good marketing idea if you ask me to set your cooperative craft show apart from others. Maybe find a way to combine it with some sort of farmer's market. Build Buzz With... Busey's American Bison Artwork - Thumbs Up - Not that I'm a TV snob, I just don't have any time to sit down and watch TV so I was totally unfamiliar with the premise of Celebrity Apprentice. Anyway, this is one of shows available on demand in my area and there was some conversation earlier in the week about a hoopla between Gary Busey and Meatloaf so I watched the episode.
In it the celebrities had to make and sell artwork. The best artwork of the show was Gary Busey's primitive acrylic work 'American Bison'. I thought the composition and colors were really well thought out. I don't have a very large TV set so maybe in real life it didn't look as great but from my perspective (and I'm a big fan of primative paintings) this was a very cool piece of artwork.
